ATPL Unfreeze
ATPL skill tests with UK CAA, EASA and FAA examiners, in full flight simulators across Europe, for one fixed fee.1
Examiners authorised for each, so the test counts for the licence you want. UK CAA and EASA can be done together in one session.
A320 family, 737NG, 737 MAX and A330 full flight simulators.
One fixed fee.1
No hourly rate. Nothing added on the day.
Both UK CAA and EASA in one session: £150 extra.
We check your documents before you book, and the examiner completes the report for your application.
Step 1
Answer a few questions and enter your logbook totals. We confirm the details with you.
Step 2
Pick a date on your type. Bring a type-rated colleague to fly with, or we'll pair you.
Step 3
A briefing, then around two hours in the simulator as pilot flying and commander.
Step 4
Send your application with the examiner's report. Applicants have six months to apply.
Simulator time that has come free at short notice, at a reduced fee. New slots appear here first.
No sponsored slots are open right now. Request a date and tell us you'd take one at short notice.
The hours are the same for UK CAA and EASA, and all of them must be logged before the test.
You'll also need to be 21 or over, hold a Class 1 medical, a CPL with multi-engine IR (or an MPL), and ATPL theory still within its seven years. UK theory counts for a UK ATPL and EASA theory for an EASA ATPL. Up to 100 simulator hours count towards the total.
The FAA and other authorities have their own rules. Ask us and we'll confirm what applies to you.
One fixed fee of an amount to be confirmed, whichever type or authority. Testing for both UK CAA and EASA licences in one session adds £150.
The fee includes the document check, simulator session, examiner, briefing and debrief, and the report for your application. The licence fee charged by your authority, and travel, are not included.
You need an ATPL to act as Captain of a multi-pilot aeroplane on commercial flights. Some airlines require it before recruitment, and most airlines want it before command selection. Your ATPL theory also expires seven years after your instrument rating last lapsed. Once the ATPL is issued, that no longer matters.
Often you can, if your examiner is authorised for your licence and every requirement was met before the check. We help when that doesn't line up: your airline for example has a delayed minimum hours requirement, or tests under the other authority, your next check is months away, or you're between jobs.
About an hour's briefing, then roughly two hours in the simulator per candidate. Expect an engine failure after take-off, precision and non-precision approaches, a go-around, landings and some abnormal procedures. A debrief follows, and the examiner completes your report.
The full address comes with your booking confirmation.
No. Every requirement must be met before the test, or it can't be used for the licence.
